A few days ago, my sister changed her hamster sand bath from reptile sand to the old bag of play sand that was laying around, because I had decided not to use it after realizing it was a bit dusty. Later, she threw out the play sand, because I told her it wasnt baked, as I had only baked a small portion of it. After my order of reptile sand had arrived, she scooped out the sand from the bag with the empty sand bath/container. I know she didnt wash the container beforehand, so I think the whole bag might be contaminated. What should be done in a situation like this? Do I bake the entire bag of reptile sand or just use it as it is?

Was the sand bath she scooped it out with for a different hamster? It probably isn't contaminated but may have a slight scent of the other hamster. But I wouldn't worry about it really. Maybe you could take the top half of the sand out and put it in a separate bag and use the bottom half :-)

Yes, it was for her dwarf hamsters. I think I will do what you suggest.
