Cost of a stamp to Europe!

I have a few friends overseas I send Christmas cards to each year - about 5. I was trying to find out the cost of a stamp to Europe this year - at one time it was the same as a Uk second class stamp! Then it went up and was about the equivalent of two second class stamps (I'm sure it was that last year). This year - I checked and double checked as I couldn't believe the price. You need a £2.80 stamp just to send a card to France! It's also the same price to the USA which is odd - the European stamps used to be cheaper than the ones to the US or New Zealand.

Stamps and cards are expensive these days. I wont be sending any I dont think. I may relent.

I think I will be doing ecards overseas next year. £14 for a stamp for 5 overseas Christmas cards - ridiculous. A first class stamp is now almost double the cost of a second class now as well. £1.65 for a first class stamp!
