This is cookies new personal journal
He loves his new wheel! It's was definitely bigger then I realised but it just about fits 😁

I am happy you have started a diary for Cookie. How old is Cookie and how long has he been with you for?

Great to hear how Cookie loves his new wheel, I think it always comes as a bit of a surprise when you see how big they are first time!
Looking forward to hearing more about Cookie.

Cookie is about a year and half so he is definitely an older boy we have had him pretty much his whole life he was bought from a garden centre pet store i don't really support pet stores but he was bought for my sister's birthday sadly she kinda got bored of him but I haven't I think he is a little cutie and he has pretty much just became my hamster I love looking after the little guy!

I always try to spend a little bit of time with him every night for about 20 mins
Thank your for showing your interest guys 😁
Robbie

Aw what a lovely story. It is really nice to hear all about how Cookie came into your life. Please feel free to post pictures and videos. :)

It’s really nice to hear how you’ve been there for Cookie after your sister lost interest, sounds like you have a good bond with the little guy.

I am also looking forward to hearing more about Cookie :) At 18 months he will still be fit and active - and wise! One thing I like about older hamsters is they are technically older than we are ha ha. And I think as they slow down they become more tolerant of us and give us wise knowing looks.

From 18 months onwards he is technically in old age, but I find generally they don't start showing signs of being old until they're about 2 years old. They can still be pretty active though, maybe not so good at climbing, but fast on the flat!

It might be why his toenails have got a bit longer if he is 18 months.

Thanks guys sorry I have not been active I have been occupied with person life stuff but just wanted to let you all know cookie is still doing completely fine and healthy and still absolutely 0 blood I am looking into getting him one of the logs to help with his nails now.

He has been really enjoying his much larger wheel thanks too you guys!
Thanks
Best wishes
Robbie and Cookie

There is no need to apologise. It is lovely to hear Cookie is well. I hope you are too.

Glad Cookie is enjoying his wheel and doing fine :-) Hope to hear more about him at some point.

Thank you for all the kind words guys I look forward to sharing more about cookie with you guys

I have a question that I would love your guy's opinions on recently I had to move room whilst my room gets worked on cookie had to come with me so he is now on top of my wardrobe (away from my cat)
I have been in this room for about a week now I have not heard much activity from him at night sometimes I will hear him come out for water or I will hear him eating and sometimes he will run on his wheel but not for very long
I play a lot of video games often quite late into the night I won't be talking but the computer will be on. Is this why cookie is more hesitant to come out of his den? Due the noise of the computer being on?
Would love to hear your guy's thoughts and opinions
Thanks
Robbie and Cookie

The noise might disturb him if it’s quite new to him due to the move, they normally adjust quite well to most household noises but he may just be a b it reclusive or hiding away more than usual because his cage has been moved, he’ll probably adjust though.

Okay thank you

Thank you elusive!

I think after the little scare I had I tend to keep a closer eye on him and I definitely don't think that's a bad thing but I think I end up overthinking a lot lol
Does his private area look okay to you guys? Also I am aware his nails are still well too long the log has not done much to trim them down yet I am thinking about taking him to the vet so they can trim them for him
Thanks Robbie

Looks ok to me. I think it’s quite natural to overthink things & worry a bit more than we really need to at first but it’s not a bad thing to keep a close eye on them & always good to ask if you’re not sure.
If you get his nails trimmed at the vet they should be able to show you how to do it yourself in future & they would probably give him a general check over at the same time.

All looks normal to me too - what was it in particular you were thinking? Sometimes they can have a poop on its way out!

I am honestly not quite sure what I was worried about I think I was just overthinking honestly!
Thanks for your answers guys
I finally got a door on my room yesterday so cookie could run around finally without me or him having to worry about the cat I have tried to get him out still and give him attention but I was not comfortable letting him run around without a cat free area for him luckily he has that now so plenty more exploring for him! I will be sure to take pictures of him exploring soon!
