Hi guys I’m pretty sure it’s fine and when I text my vet will say this same but does this urine look okay? Just seems quite darker. I’ve found Mindys new pee spot this evening she changes it quite a bit.
It does look dark. If you can get a sample your vet could test it. If you take her out during the day, she should wee (hopefully) in a carrier before long. I'm not sure what is making it so dark, but having it tested wouldn't be a bad thing.
Sent photo to be this morning. She says she’s not worried it looks wee but concentrated but she’s not concerned as Mindy is well in herself and not drinking more etc.
On your third photo down, the smaller bit of paper near the top, resting on your index finger, is what I would call a normal colour. The other darker part is darker than usual. It's good your vet isn't concerned. It can be a bit difficult getting a pee sample from a hamster but if you can, it could be reassuring to test it yourself with ketodiastix Just human ones from the chemist. They give readings for protein, sugar, blood etc so you can see if it's all normal.
One way to get a sample is pop them in a pet carrier with just a ceramic hide for a while. No bedding. Any pee can then be tested or drawn up in a syringe and put in a pot for the test sticks, if it's difficult to test inside the pet carrier.
I have never actually had to do this! If anyone else has had a sample from a hamster please share!
