I'm working out a gradual closing down over the next two days. Just so you know what will work and what won't.

1) I'm leaving direct messaging working until the last day (some time on the 16th).
2) The Home page will still be viewable but there is no interaction possible with it now.
3) Some time tomorrow (as late as possible) or maybe the morning after, the forum section will just not appear or you'll get something like "you don't have permission to view this page". But the home page will still be viewable and direct message will work.

Saving anything:

If you want to save any forum threads (eg your Hamster's thread), then the best way to do that I think, is on a computer

Threads:

a) Open the first page of the thread
b) On computer, go to "File", "Print" and select "print to pdf". This will save it as a pdf - the posts and photos. You might need to repeat that for each page of the thread - I think it only saves one page at a time.

Individual posts, resources or article text:

a) Select, copy and paste into Word or similar, but that won't copy photos I think, just text

I have downloaded all the article text and will download the resources as well. Not sure where I'll be able to put them yet.

It doesn't seem quite real yet :(

Thanks for that, I was just trying to work out if I could save or print off Blossom’s thread.

@Maz how do you save it as a pdf once you have selected ‘print to pdf’?

My save as option is greyed out, so it doesn’t look like I can save it ☹️ or Blossoms turn on the monthly thread…or her 1st birthday post ☹️

Thank you Maz for the instructions. In the end I have managed to save Blossom’s thread as a record of her life with me, and her monthly thread contribution and her first birthday page.

Yes, on my IPad I chose the icon of a box with an arrow coming out the top, print, another icon of a box + arrow and then save files and then save again. Under Options I chose PDF.

If you switch to desktop mode on your phone, it seems you can save to pdf that way too, in the same way

You can also use the Wayback Machine (https://web.archive.org/) to save any important webpages. If saving a thread with multiple pages, you'll need to save each page individually.

I have archived all the Home page articles on Archive Today which is a similar site to the one Daisy mentioned. They are basically a screenshot of the page online. I've saved all the links for these to be found and will share them on Instagram in a few days.

I've been trying to archive the entire forum, but unfortunately it's going to take far to long to achieve.

Just a word of caution though. In case any page archived contains anybody's location or real name - I wouldn't advise that. If it's your own hamster's thread and you're happy for it to remain online in an archive then that is an option. Once it's archived, it can't be edited.

I have copied and saved all the resources and links from them onto my computer. So they are saved for now in case anyone wants to access them. That can be for later.

I'll be turning the resources section off now, so it's not viewable.
