Clive is still with us and responded to a small piece of grape but he's so so tired.

Sadly, i have to work overnight and can't cancel the shift because of the nature of my job but i'd really like to be here. Hopefully Clive will be better in the morning and my OH will update me.

If Clive is still the same in the morning or worse i'll get the vet's opinion on what to do for the best.

He's curled up and asleep in his nest. There's no change. He got up for his fresh food last night and a little porridge this morning but aside from that stayed in his nest. He still gets up to use the toilet and to get a drink.

It’s good to hear that he isn’t showing any signs of pain or discomfort & can still get up when he needs to. It does sound as if he could be coming toward the end of his life but sleeping at home feeling safe is the best we can wish for them when they reach that stage sad though it is to see them like this.

Yes, i hope that he will stay comfortable enough to slip away in his own nest when the time comes but i wouldn't hesitate to intervene should life become a burden to him.

He grabbed the leaf and then blocked his door with bedding. Glad that he's still talking to me.

I cleaned pee clumps out of his sand jar and made it all nice and smooth for him. Next thing Clive dragged himself out of his house to protest pee in the jar but he's knackered and nodded off while doing so.
In the meantime i freshened up his nest which gets a bit whiffy now. Of course he woke up so i held a water bottle to his face and he took a few sips. He can't do a lot for himself now, not in one go anyway.
He managed to get back into his house and stuck his tail out of his door. Not sure if he was checking his nest or maybe the gesture was directly aimed at me.
I went outside to find a prime dandelion leaf as a goodwill gesture which he accepted but then made it very clear that he had had enough of me by blocking his door.

Surely him sticking his tail out the door was not like a human swearing.

Exactly. His mind isn't affected at all but his body is going downhill fast.
