Meet Cappuccino:

He was born at the start of Oktober 22 and found his way to me through an advertisment I stumbled upon.
He is quite skittish but I´ve only had him for one week so I guess thats normal and itll take some time for him to settle and also to grow up since he is still so young (just around 6 weeks).
I am new to having Hamsters around me so its quite the adventure for both of us but one thing I am sure about is that he is a very pretty hammy!
And that I will be learning a lot from him being in my life :)

One funny little story that already accured:
I put a bit natural food like flax seeds and millet spikes into his enclosure and the biggest one I did place above a container with coconut chippings. The first night he didnt show any interest in those things, nibbled a little around but was busy running in his wheel.
When I entered the room in the second morning I couldnt believe my eyes there was just a bare stick left where that big chunk of red millet had hung!
He must have collected it all during the night and probably stored away for tough times 😄

Here some pictures:

Thats for today, see you around 🐹

Aww he is soo cute. Looks like he has some lovely things to forage in his enclosure. Like the look of his wooden wheel. Is that a ramp on a hinge that I can see?

What a beautiful hamster! I am actually amazed he striped a whole millet in one night! That must have been hard work for him. :) You may like to get a night camera so you can find out what he gets up to. I have one and have learned all sorts of secrets my hamster has. Hehe.

Ha ha they do that sometimes - strip something in a night. He seems to be settling in then :). He is so fluffy! Tulsi it looks like a ladder attached to a shelf to me :) Good idea, so the ladder doesn't fall down.

The photos of him with the millet are adorable. That one you had on the introduction page was very artistic! It was like an arc going over him.

Yeah its a ladder I attached to the sandbath box and it leads into the sandbath. Also he stripped that in the second night the first two days he was still quite active and curious but since then he would get up later every evening and also be a lot more shy.
Good idea with the camera aswell maybe I should do that. What sort of camera do you use?

I have the reolink latest. I got it from Amazon. I think the picture is really clear.

I have this one. It takes an sd card so it records continuously (connected to wifi) and when it gets to the end it goes back to the start and wipes over earlier ones. You can download the recordings, or bits of them, on your phone though. Or watch them live on your phone (tucked up in bed!) or watch them the next day from the recording.

That's quite typical of new hamsters. The first day or two they are active and exploring everything and then they disappear and come across as gone all shy for a while. I think they need this time alone trying to figure out what has happened to them.

Once they realize that they are safe and nobody is going to eat them they'll start to relax a bit.

Hey guys, just a little udpate from my little guy. He seems to be getting more and more confident each day now. I caught him peeking out of his burrow some days ago while I was fetching something out of the room, looking rather curious than scared. And yesterday he came out while I was still in the room, having a good stretch and collecting some food from the ground and out of his food dish. He even had the cheakyness to sit in his foodbowl for a while, before going back down into his nest, probably to empty his cheeks and have a feast!

He seems to be really settling in well :-) He looks so fluffy! He's gorgeous.

Have you seen the "Show us your cages" thread? It would be lovely to see the rest of Capuccino's cage - it looks great.

How adorable! He is getting confident so soon. I would also love to see your cage.

Sure I´d like to share it sometime soon, just need you to wait a little since my upcoming days are quite packed.
