Hello,
Our dwarf is 7 months old and all of a sudden for the last two days has been biting the front of his cage in the same spot over and over and over. He has never been stressed before. Nothing has changed ans wondered if this could be a habit more than a stress response?

Thanks

It is a bit strange that he has just started to do it, when nothing has changed. Could he be trying to tell you something? Have you checked to wheel, water? Maybe he wants to come out to play?

It sounds like he wants to come out - although fo check the wheel and water as Hank says - it can be their way of telling you something is wrong. Also if you’ve just cleaned out or changed things around, that can cause them to bar bite out of stress. A partial clean is accepted usually but not a full clean out.

Have checked the cage and water. Nothing seems to be different. He wakes in the morning for some food, is calm and has a little walk around the enclosure and goes back to sleep. Repeats this through the day and at around this time each day is waking and that’s when the bar biting begins and goes on for hours. We get him out and he is very darty and wont sit still so inevitably has to go back. Really can’t work out what set it off

Good evening all
Just an update on this, he is still cage biting but moving to different spots once he has bitten off the coating of paint on one area. Could he be doing this out of wanting to take whatever is coated on the bars?

No it won't be that - if it's the same time each day it sounds very much like he's demanding out of cage time. Do you have a playpen?
