After spending nearly 2 hours this morning and on the forum yesterday looking at food specifically for dwarf hamsters I finally chose to order Premium Dwarf Hamster food 250 gms £11.79 with p&p from Bears Hamsters expensive but my intention is to use this in conjunction with his Little Mix and Science Selective it's difficult to assess exactly what Pete does eat but with a lot of variety my theory is he will get some balance and nutrition to his diet the only things he doesn't hoard are his egg white, chicken, beef, defrosted frozen pea and mealworms these go straight down the hatch obviously they are limited not daily. Will let you know if he turns his little nose up at this gourmet delight or how much of it he leaves in his hord.

I look forward to hearing what Pete thinks of his new food mix. :)

Overall it looks like quite a good mix, I would be a little wary of a mix with freeze dried chicken in it though as that can go mouldy if it gets hoarded or gets damp, not quite sure about “dried gammarus/soya protein” if that means one or the other or what form of soya protein that means, it also has some lentils which aren’t the best for dwarf hamsters.
Pete always looks healthy on what he’s having now & he may just pick out what he likes from the new mix.
Let us know how he gets on with it .

Agree Elusive - I think at the time of ordering they let you opt between things - eg dried gammarus or soya. It might be better to treat it as a forage mix and still give the little one and science selective as the main food for now.

I still think the Bunny Dream dwarf hamster food is the best one for a hamster over a year old. It’s about £9 a bag from Vetsend and it’s a decent sized bag.

I had looked at those mixes but wasn’t keen on lentils as a source of protein and the freeze dried chicken (which can go off) also.

As its only a 250 Gmail bag I can try the Bunny dream next time

Thanks for the heads up on the chicken if I can recognise it I will separate it out

I'm guessing it's made to order, if delivery is that slow.

I made a mistake with this it has a good variation in the mix but I got it with shrimp included thinking Pete would love it as he loves mealworms nope he won't touch most of it and not only that it smells revolting like sweaty maggots.

Some of the ingredients look nice. Perhaps they could do a bag without the shrimp.

They actually do one without shrimp but I thought he would like it with shrimp because it smells same mealworms and something a bit different for him, got that one wrong didn't I fussy little so-n-so😏 😁

Oh dear - he didn't like shrimp then?
