Are people getting emails instead of direct messages?

I noticed a couple of people had replied to my direct message by email @Haruka and @Matt_S . Were you not able to reply to the message on here directly? You should be able to reply to a message if I've messaged you Just checking to make sure everything is working ok

Also, @mealwormdevourer, the forum emails to you are bouncing back - could you message me, as if I message you, you won't get the email notification as it'll bounce back again!

Ah thanks matt. It sends an email to say you have a direct message so I think some people have replied to the email before logging in and reading the direct message. Which explains it Could you just check you have the message on here as well? Just to make sure there are no hiccups there!

With the new set up, direct messaging isn't available, except to and from admin.

I had the same thing happen, turns out my settings had email notifications turned on for messages. I just went into preferences and unchecked that box, fixed it right away.

I’ve had similar issues where messages went through email instead of the site — usually a sync glitch or spam filter thing. At work we had a similar hiccup with our sip trunking provider Telxi, but their support team caught it fast and fixed the delivery paths.

I've changed email provider since then so it shouldn't be a problem now. Direct messaging is actually off, except for contacting admin and replies to and from admin - but as it sends an email when you have a direct message waiting, it may be that some people just reply to the email! It hasn't happened for a while now so hopefully all sorted
