Haha, so funny how he looks at you when you talk. He really is delightful.

Cheeky little Albert having a nibble, he looks so happy and comfortable out for his roam and he responds so well to your voice, he’s super cute.

I think I've scared Albert a bit this morning...

While I was doing my workout this morning Albert came out to watch me which was very funny because I was wondering what he was thinking to me jumping about. When I had finished Albert was waiting to come out so I scoop him up as normal and sat on the sofa. He always sits on my chest on my left side to begin with. I've always thought it might be because my heart beat gives him comfort. Today my heart was racing after doing a workout and Albert didn't like it. He went very still with his ears flat. I put him on the sofa and he looked up at me very strangely. He had a little walk on the sofa but I could tell he wasn't his usual self. I scooped him up again and I put him back in his cage. He waited at his door as normal for a treat. I gave him a monkey nut and he was happy for me stroke him while he got the nuts out. He then took the nuts back to his nest.
What do you all think?
Did my fast heart beat upset Albert?

Aw, perhaps the faster heartbeat confused him but he does not sound upset as he waited for a treat and he let you stroke him. Unless you could have been a bit sweaty and he was unsure by the scent.

It could be that he didn't like your faster heart beat. They pick up on our moods as well but that wasn't the case. I'm only mentioning that to point out how sensitive some hamsters are. Especially the ones who are very tuned in with their favourite human, like your Albert.

They are quite sensitive to things like that - different smells as well and tone of voice.

I think you’re probably right too, they are sensitive & it wouldn’t have been what he’s used to or was expecting but he sounds as though he was fine & got over it really quickly so I wouldn’t worry.

Thank you everyone. I was a bit sweaty so maybe that and the heart was a bit confusing for Albert. Perhaps Albert thought I needed a sand bath 🤣

Albert made me jump this morning...

Albert's cage sits on a sideboard. I needed to get somethings out of the top draw. Before I opened the draw I glanced in Albert's cage to see if he was out and about. He wasn't. I got what I wanted out of the draw and closed it. I had another glance in the cage and to my surprise Albert popped his head up out of his digbox. He made me jump. I had no idea he was in there. I had a good giggle too because he had a piece of cardboard resting on his head. 🤣

I can just imagine that :) I've often seen hamsters with little paper hats like that :-) And they have NO idea what we're laughing at.

Haha, i had a very visual imagine in my head of a pop up Albert with a paper hat.

Made this seed tube for Albert today. I've cut the tube length ways so Albert doesn't get stuck. Sorry the photo isn't very good.

It's great! Now that's exactly what I was thinking of the other day! And saving toilet roll tubes for. A tube with seeds half way up. I will be interested to see what Albert does with it :)

I think he will love it!

Te, he, he caught you out, can just imagine him popping up with a little cardboard hat. What a nice way to start the day 😊 The seed treat looks very yummy, I’m sure Albert will be pleased when he finds it.

I've not seen Albert since the weekend but last night he made an appearance. My hubby and son were watching football so I didn't get Albert out straight away because I was worried he would be frightened by hubby and son being very animated because West Ham were playing in the final. Albert wasn't happy and wanted out. I got Albert out near the end of the game and he sat on hand and watched the football while I stroked him. Has you may know Albert loves football. When West Ham won the match my hubby and son went mad. It didn't frighten Albert at all. Eventually Albert wanted to go on the floor. He had a little walk around and then went for a snooze under the sofa. He then climbed the stairs but only part way and then he wanted cuddles which was lovely. I put Albert back in his cage and he waited for his piece of nut that he pouched. He then had a roll in his sand and then off to his nest to enjoy his piece of nut.

Having 3 West Ham fans in the house isn't much fun for me but at least I got to see Albert.
