I've been sitting next to Albert's cage with the door open for about one hour. I've been talking to him on and off. He's been having a good wash in his hanging basket. Every now and again he'll have a wonder over to his sand bath for a roll around and then a quick run on his wheel. He doesn't seem interested in coming out to play and he keeps dozing off in his basket. Is it normal for him to keep dozing when he's been a sleep all day?

He just sounds very relaxed and contented They do nap in the evenings sometimes. Their most active time is when we go to bed!

It’s normal for their behaviour to change from time to time, they can have lazy days (or evenings) when they don’t want to do much or come out so don’t worry.

That is such an adorable video! You can see him listening and reacting now and then I love it when he sits upright and holds his paws in front of him Then later has a scratch as if to say "I'm still listening but I have something I have to do"!

He really does look in lovely condition - a happy, healthy hamster. And clearly has a good bond with you

I do feel very lucky to have Albert. He's so sweet. I gave his cage a spot clean today. He came out to play and let me cuddle him.

I was up earlier than normal this morning. Went to check on Albert and his little pink nose was poking out of his house. As soon as I spoke he came running to door. Didn't need his taxi today. He hopped straight onto my hand. Play, cuddles and treats. He's now gone to bed.
