For those who have had hamsters before, i would like to know what age they reached.
I have a russian dwarf, she is my first hamster and is about 1 year old now.

I think this will only make you worried. There were two dwarf hamsters on this forum that reached almost 3 years old. I am sure you will have lots more time with your little one.

It can vary from hamster to hamster. I think 2 years is average and great; anything over is a real bonus

I worried about our hamster becoming poorly, but we had 2 wonderful years with him, before he passed, he was a male Syrian.

Most of my Syrians have lived to well over two. My last robo lived to age 2. With either Syrians or dwarf hamsters it can vary a lot. And you just don't know - some is genetics. 18 months old is considered the beginning of old age, but I think age 2 is probably an average.

Interested question I have a Russian Dwarf and he will be 1 year end of February the time has gone so quickly since we got him at 8 weeks old. The average lifespan really does vary so just love every day you have but be prepared that one day you will have to say the long goodbye.
