He is 2 in December, so not young any more I appreciate! He/she seemed fine in himself and was eating okay. Don’t think it was there last night .That looks nasty. Yes vet tomorrow if you can. It looks red and inflamed - does it feel hot or not? It could be an abscess as Beryl says. If they’re not sure they may give antibiotics to see if the work and if they don’t they’ll assume it’s some other kind of growth. The hamster may need some pain relief as well.
How old is the hamster?
Ha well no and I was worried about that and thought about the food. However, no need, as when I held him, my wife showed him the end of the syringe and he just grabbed with both paws and wolfed it down (it's only a tiny amount!). Luckily he's a gannet!! Gave him a piece of broccoli after so he was happy as Larry!I hope the antibiotics get to work soon & your ham is feeling better.
Have you given meds before?
The antibiotics usually taste pretty horrible so it’s easiest to give them mixed with a tiny bit of food to mask the taste, only a really small amount to be sure it all get eaten. I use baby food, some people se meaty food like wet dog food, something safe for hamsters, tasty enough to hide the meds & soft enough to be able to mix it in easily.
