Hello and welcome :-) They are lucky hammies to have such wonderful set ups. I can't wait to meet them! There is a section on here where you can have an individual thread for each hamster, (under Syrian section and roborovski section) - which is where people share photos and updates as to the hamster's progress and any antics they get up to - maybe you'd like to start a thread for Blue and Nibbles :-) I love their names by the way.

As regards handling. I think it's time and patience really. There is a "taming" article on the home page, which you might find helpful :-) With Robos - it can be a bit different. We have a couple of members on here though who have achieved handling with robos gradually. @Dusty's Mom and @teeny_tiny_tony123 . I'd start by deciding on a "taxi" - for the syrian at least. Something they can walk into, to be transported from the cage to a safe area like a bathtub or playpen area. Handling is generally best started out of the cage rather than in it (with Syrians at least), because they behave completely differently out of the cage. They become territorial in the cage.

Welcome you will find lots of information here. As for taming I find approach bearing a gift mealworms seem irresistible most animals respond to food treats they associate you with something nice.

Welcome to the forum, Blue & Nibbles 😁 I have found that with Dora, my roborovski hamster, it’s good to keep talking to her and she now knows my voice and will come over to the bars to say hi. It’s also a good idea to get something strong-smelling like a piece of raspberry or cucumber and place it on your hand in the cage so nibbles can easily sniff it out and maybe have the confidence to step onto your hand. Dora will sometimes do that but has been nibbling me a bit! I think Robo’s need a lot more time and patience to be tamed compared to Syrians.

Hi I have never yet seen nibbles she my roborovski dwarf hamster drink water and as I change the water daily can't see if water is going down do they drink much? Thanks

They drink so little you don't tend to notice Pete won't drink from a bottle so he has a tiny dish and I see him when he's drinking he's funny too because he sits and wipes his mouth with his paws afterwards
